Problem Introduction
Misconfigured IAM permissions and poorly managed access keys can create security risks. AWS IAM controls access to cloud resources through users, policies, and credentials, but identifying excessive permissions, reviewing access key activity, and maintaining least-privilege access is challenging. Reviewing IAM configurations and investigating missing evidence manually is time-consuming, and without a consistent process, security gaps may go unnoticed.
How GRiPO Helps You in This Situation
The challenge isn’t having different tools, it’s getting them to work together. When the output of one system has to feed another for analysis, action, or AI insights, teams end up moving data manually, maintaining custom scripts, or building complex ETL pipelines. GRiPO Flow connects these tools into a single workflow where data, insights, AI analysis, and actions flow between systems automatically.
GRiPO Solution
Jev is a System One model designed to make fast, structured decisions. Instead of generating text, it returns a defined decision that can be used directly for routing and automated actions. GRiPO supports jev as a plugin. In this workflow:
- On-Demand Trigger: runs the assessment whenever the team needs to review user configurations, access keys, and permissions.
- Fetch AWS IAM Evidence: collects access key details, policies, and other evidence about the user’s security posture.
- AI Context Normalizer: organizes the evidence into a structured context for jev.
- jev Ask Noul: makes a structured decision from the context and instructions.
- If Condition: if the condition is met, the workflow follows the Yes branch to Generate Summary AI. If not, it follows the No branch, where no further activity is connected, and the workflow ends.
- Generate Summary AI: generates a structured assessment with risk level, score, key findings, missing evidence, and recommended areas for analyst attention.
- Slack Message Event: sends the assessment to the configured Slack channel.
Automated IAM Security Risk Assessment
The workflow runs on demand. It collects IAM evidence, prepares the AI context, uses jev to make a structured decision, generates an AI assessment, and posts it to Slack. In the example run, the report shows a Low risk level with a score of 0.43, highlights active and inactive access keys, policy details, and missing evidence, and recommends reviewing the inline policy and monitoring user activity.
